The outcome of the result of the election is out and it is being circulated around via social media.
The result publication which is being circulated via social media reads:
The Academic Staff Union, University of Ilorin chapter has held it election in alliance with the national body of the union, Thursday August 1, 2019 for the first time in 18 years.
Professor Ajayi Moyosore Salihu from the Department of Human Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences has emerged Chairman of the Unilorin branch of the Union following the harmonisation of the factional camps of Dr. Usman Raheem and Dr. Kayode Afolahan prior to election.
The publication then stated the elected executives and the number of votes that won each of them the election as follows:
- Professor Ajayi Moyosore Salihu (Human Anatomy): Chairman. 464 votes
- Ige Olusegun Omoniyi (Geology and Mineral Science) : Vice Chairman. 342 votes
- Akanu Alex (Science Education): Secretary. 419 votes
- Adetitun David Olugbenga (Microbiology): Finance Secretary. 329 votes
- Ahmed El-Imam Amina (Microbiology): Assistant Secretary. 399 votes
- Roland Kayode M (Home Economic and Food Science) : Treasurer. 410 votes
- Bakinde Surajudeen Tesho (Human Kinetics): Auditor. 707 votes. (Unaccepted)
- Kasum Abubakar Sadiq (Accounting): Investment Officer. 462 votes
- Ojediran Oludolapo (Performing Arts): Welfare Officer. 307 votes
Meanwhile, the election of Bakinde Surajudeen Tesho has been declared unaccepted.
It could be recalled that consultation for reconciliation of UNILORIN Union warring factions and the National body of ASUU was initiated July this year. The feud which was almost two decades started as a result of the resolve of the then management of Unilorin to sack about 49 academic staffs of the institution on the ground that they joined the strike action organised by the national leaders of ASUU.
The case was taken to court and at the end it was ruled that the sacked staffs should be reabsorb and all their salaries and entitlements within the period of their sacked to be fully paid but since then until July this year when reconciliation was initiated there were no cordial relationship among the parties.
