Igbinedion University Okada IUO Engineering Courses and Admission Requirements

Igbinedion University offers six engineering programmes at it's College of Engineering which house four Departments. It is important you know that all these programmes are fully accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). That mean the certificate - Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) - you are awarded after successfully completing a five years course can be used to apply for a job anywhere in Nigeria and abroad and for further study at any higher institutions of learning here or anywhere in the world.

The College of Engineering opened its doors to students in the 2002/2003 session  and operate four departments.

Listed below are the six course available in the four departments
Chemical and Petroleum Engineering are taught at same department, so also are Electrical and Electronics Engineering 

 

Admission Requirements

There are two ways by which an applicant can gain admission to study any of the above courses in as much as he satisfy the admission requirements.
  1. Through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) this include Pre-degree programme which qualify students to be admitted into 100 level and
  2. Through Direct Entry, including JUPEB which qualifies students to be admitted to 200 level.

For a student to be considered for admission to undergraduate degree through UTME (1) above, he must have five credit passes from either
  • West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/(NECO)
  • General Certificate Examination (GCE)
The five credit passes must include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics or Geography or Biology and it must not be at more than two sittings.

A student must pass Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) after which he must also pass the Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) post UTME, making the required Cut-Off Mark for his chosen engineering programme.

It is also required of a student to pass one of the three exams above before he could be considered for an admission by direct entry.
