Certificate in Engineering Courses | Technical University of Kenya

The certificate qualification awarded by the Technical University of Kenya in it's various engineering programmes is recognised by the Engineers Board of Kenya, hence it can be used for seeking employment or for furtherance of education. 

The certificate courses is a form of  short courses which doesn't take long duration of time before completed. It is design for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or it equivalent holders who are not able to achieve result capable of landing them admission to study bachelor degree programme, therefore the asking minimum entry requirements for the programme is usually not up to that of bachelor degree.   

Generally, it usually take between two (2) and three (3) semesters to complete a certificate programme and at the Technical University of Kenya this is not difference. 


List of Certificate in Engineering Courses, Technical University of Kenya 

The Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at the Technical University of Kenya offers the following undergraduate certificate engineering courses. 

1. Certificate in Electronics Technician 

  • Requirement: KCSE mean grade of D+ including D+ in the cluster subjects 
  • Duration of Study: two (2) semesters  

2. Certificate in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning 

  • Requirement: KCSE mean grade D+ (plus)
  • Duration of Study: three (3) semesters 

3. Certificate in Electronics 

  • Requirements: Technician Part III (CET III); Pass in Certificate in Electronics Technician II or Equivalent
  • Duration of Study: three (3) semesters 

3. Certificate in Electronics Technician II 

  • Requirement: Pass in Certificate in Electronics Technician I
  • Duration of Study: three (3) semesters 

4. Certificate in Electronics Technician I 

  • Requirement: KCSE Mean grade C- (minus)
  • Duration of Study: three (3) semesters 

5. Certificate in Electrical Installation Technician II 

  • Requirement: Pass in Certificate in Electrical Installation Technician I
  • Duration of Study: three (3) semesters 

6. Certificate in Electrical Installation Technician I 

  • Requirement: KCSE Mean grade C- (minus)
  • Duration of Study: 3 semesters 

7. Certificate in Electrical Installation Technician 

  • Requirement: KCSE mean grade of D+ including D+ in Mathematics and in the cluster subjects
  • Duration of Study: 3 semesters 

8. Certificate in Electrical Installation Electrician 

  • Requirement: KCSE mean grade of D+ including D+ in Mathematics and in the cluster subjects
  • Duration of Study: three (3) semesters
