General Engineering is taught to award students with a BEng or MEng degree certificate on successful completion of the programme. While BEng programme is usually lasted a duration of 3 years, the MEng programme use to last for a duration of 4 years.
Three years after admission to study General Engineering, students of the programme will then have an opportunity to choose a field of specialization and this time Civil Engineering. It is during this years (3rd and 4th) that core subjects in Civil Engineering would be taught the students. The opportunity to choose Civil Engineering as a field of specialization is possible in the third years of studying the programme irrespective of whether a student is studying to earn a BEng or MEng degree.
If a students choose the Civil Engineering route, he would have to do some compulsory course modules specific to Civil Engineering at both 3rf years and 4rth years.
The fourth years of study (MEng programme) is majorly devoted to doing an engineering project under a strict supervision of highly experience civil engineer.
