Teaching Electrical and Electronic Engineering at LAUTECH started in 1990/91 academic session with aim to furnish prospective engineers with concept, theory and the principles of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and this is one of the reasons behind why the curriculum is design to focus on engineering courses from the second to the fifth year of the programme, a time when students choose to specialise on either: Electrical Power Systems and Machines, Electronic Engineering or Communication Engineering.

To be eligible for the degree of B. Tech in Electronic and Electrical 
Engineering, a candidate must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 196 units and  a minimum of 40 
weeks of students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) 

Entry Requirements

Application to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering at LAUTECH is done two ways:
  • As JAMB/UTME Candidates and
  • As DIRECT ENTRY Candidates

JAMB/UTME Candidates:

Each JAMB/UTME candidate must possess O'Level credit passes in a minimum of five subjects which must include:
  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Physics and 
  • Chemistry and one other science subject which may be
  • Biology
  • Agriculral Science
  • Technical Drawing
  • Further Mathematics

The five credit passes must not be more than at two sittings from either one or two of :
  • GCE
  • SSCE or
  • WSSCE
The JAMB/UTME Candidates must also sit for and pass UTME, making the required cut off mark.

The UTME subjects combination are:
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry and 
  • English Language
After scaling through the UTME, the candidates must then write LAUTECH Post UTME making the cut off mark for the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

The JAMB/UTME Candidates are offer admission to 100 level of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme.

Direct Entry Candidates

Application through Direct Entry eligible candidates admission to 200 level or 300 level of the LAUTECH Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the following qualifications are accepted for admission:

GCE A' Level: three good passes in Mathematics (Pure Mathematics or Applied Mathematics), Physics and Chemistry will be accepted onto 200 level.

ND (National Diploma): minimum of Upper Credit in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or other relevant engineering programmes accepted onto 200 level.

HND (Higher National Diploma): minimum of Upper Credit in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or other relevant engineering programme are accepted .

LAUTECH pre degree programme is accepted. It is not automatic. A candidate must make.the required grade to be considered for admission to 100 level. 

Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso is a minimum of five years degree programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Technology (BTech) honour in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The programme is accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and National University Commission (NUC)
