A Nigerian Professor Appointed to Pontifical Academic of Social Sciences, Italy

A Nigerian Professor by the names Kokunre Agbontaen-Aghafona has been appointed to the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

The appointment which was made by Pope Francis on Friday, 11 of July 2020 see the woman becoming one of ordinary academician of the prestigious institution which was established by the Pope John Paul 2 in 1994.

Professor Kokunre Adetokunbo Agbontaen-Eghafona was appointed alongside Pedro Miranda Court, from Chile and Mario Draghi who hail from Italy.

A Professor of Cultural Anthropology, until her present appointment Agbontaen-Aghafona  was one the staff of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Nigeria an institution where she studied for both her Bachelor and Master degree programm in History. It was at the same university she was made a Professor of Cultural Anthropology having lectured in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology for many years.

Pontifical Academic of Social Sciences is headquartered in Casino Pio IV, Vartican City, Italy. The school formed to teach social sciences related programmes with with focus on establishing dialogue with the Roman Catholic Church worldwide.
