On this page are the list of academic results students can use to apply for admission to study for Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEngTech) in Chemical Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) South Africa. The page state the minimum grade a student must make from each of the academic result for him to be considered for an admission.

Studying Chemical Engineering at TUT prepares students for future job opportunities and challenges in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, polymers, electronics, advance materials, paper and pulp, petrochemical, environmental health industry and so on.

To make the students better graduates and to be able to tackle the future challenges, courses like Chemical Engineering (Fundamental); Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Chemical Process Technology, Unit Operation, Engineering Mathematics, Environmental Engineering and Safety, Particle Technology, Chemical Reaction Engineering and so on are taught them using highly experience academics and non academics staff and conducive teaching and learning environment.

List of Qualifications Accepted to Study BEngTech Chemical Engineering at TUT.

Senior Certificate Result Obtained Before 2008

  • A matriculation endorsed Senior Certificate with a C symbol at Standard Grade or a D symbol at Higher Grade for English, and B symbols at Standard Grade or C symbols at Higher Grade for Mathematics and Physical Science. 
An applicants will be considered for admission using this qualification if he has an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 28.
 

A National Senior Certificate Obtained In OR After 2008:

  • A bachelor’s degree endorsed National Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification, with an achievement level of at least 4 for English (home language or first additional language) and 5 for Mathematics or Technical Mathematics, and 5 for Physical Sciences or Technical Sciences. 

An applicant would be considered for admission if he has an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 28 (excluding Life Orientation). 

A NATIONAL CERTIFICATE (VOCATIONAL) AT NQF LEVEL 4:

  • Holders of a National Certificate (Vocational) at NQF Level 4, with a bachelor’s degree endorsement, issued by the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi) must have at least a 50% (APS of 4) in English, 50% in Life Orientation (excluded for APS calculation), and 60% (APS of 5) in Mathematics and Science, and 60% (APS of 5) in any other three compulsory vocational subjects.
For an applicant to be considered for an admission he must have an Admission Point Score (APS) 
of at least 28 (excluding Life Orientation).

A National N Certificate/National Senior Certificate As Published In Report 191: N3 (NQF Level 4):

  • A National Senior Certificate or a National N Certificate with languages as published inReport 191: N3 (NQF Level 4) issued by both the Department of Higher Education and Training(DHET) and the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with at least 50% for English, Mathematics N3, Engineering Sciences N3 and any other two additional subjects.
An applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) 
of at least 28 to be considered for admission.

Holders of A N6 Certificate in A Related Engineering Field As Published in Report 191: N6:

  • TUT will only consider the above qualification issued by  both the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with an average of at least 60% for the qualification, and successful completion of an English Language Proficiency Assessment (done by the University).

HIGHER EDUCATION QUALIFICATION SUB-FRAMEWORK (HEQSF) OFFERED BY UNIVERSITIES OF TECHNOLOGY:

  • Holders of any of the underlisted qualifications will be considered for admission if completed:
  • Higher Certificate in Chemical Engineering (NQF Level 5 - 140 credits): with an average of at least 60% for the qualification. 
  • Advanced Certificate in Chemical Engineering (NQF Level 6 - 140 credits): with an average of at least 60% for the qualification. 
  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering (NQF Level 6 - 280 credits): with an average of at least 55% for the qualification. 
  • National Diploma: Engineering: Chemical (NQF Level 6 - 3,000 credits): with an average of at least 55% for the qualification. 

TUT will only considered  applicants who achieve the minimum APS  until the programme complement is full. 

Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEngTech) Chemical Engineering at TUT is a three (3) years programme and is accredited by Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
