UChichago Set to Host Duality's First Quantum Startup Training

University of Chicago is set to host the first ever training for the  Duality's quantum accelerator programme.

The training which is scheduled to be done at Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, University of Chicago (UChicago) is aimed to help quantum startups to take their products from the factory to the marketplace.

A group of six quantum companies, code named Cohort-1 are already selected from among very many quantum startup from across the United States and abroad which have submitted application for consideration. 

Duality is an accelerator that focus on the startup companies in the field of quantum science and technology. It aim to help quantum startup businessess grow through it support, mentorship, funding and training from well known and seasons business men, entrepreneurs and quantum experts.

The twelve (12) months training programme is make possible by the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UChicago and the Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE), in partnership with the Argonne National Laboratory, P33 and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Aside top-class business and entrepreneurship training this six quantum startup will receive in the next 12 months from the Polsky Center, the Booth School of Business and from Duality’s founding partners, each of the companies will also receive an unrestricted funding to the sum of $50,000 at the end of training.

The group of six inaugural quantum startup are code named Cohort-1 because they are the first ever to join the Duality. The name of the six quantum startup as announced by Duality are listed below: 

Axion Technologies: a company that focus on developing a quantum random number generator for high performance computing systems.

QuantCAD: the company works on developing simulation software for modelling noise and current in quantum devices such as high-resolution quantum sensors.

Great Lakes Crystal Technologies: focus on developing process for commercial manufacturing for semiconductor-grade diamond materials for photonics, quantum technology applications and electronics.

Quantopticon: the only company from abroad based in Guildford, England. It is developing simulation software for designing and optimizing quantum optical devices.

qBraid: is developing a cloud-based platform for managed access to other quantum computing software and hardware.

Supertech: is a company that is developing software that accelerates quantum computing applications by optimizing across the system stack from algorithms to control pulses.

While commenting on the programme, Chuck Vallurupalli, a Senior Director of Duality said, “Quantum technologies of the future that address unmet needs with disruptive business models simply cannot be built in isolation. We are pleased to welcome six startups into the inaugural cohort of Duality and offer them a unique set of resources to help them grow.”
