Wesley University Seeks Training Collaboration with UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Ondo


The University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo State (UNIMEDTH) on April 18th, 2024 received a courtesy visit from Wesley University (WU), Ondo with the aim to seek collaboration for the clinical training of WU students in the following area of disciplines: nursing science, community health and medical laboratory science. 

The team from Wesley University which included the Vice-Chancellor Rt. Rev. Prof. Obaka Samuel Sunday, the Ag. Director Academic Planning Dr. Edward Oyekanmi and Ag. Burser Mr. Olasoji kolawole informed the UNIMEDTH management that they have received formal approval for training of students in nursing science (BSc. Nursing), community health (BSc. Community Health) and medical laboratory science (B.MLS). 

The visiting team was received by the Ag CMD, Dr Michael Olumide Gbala, Dr. Akinbodewa Akinwunmi (DCMAC Clinical Services), Mr. Lawrence Sabeje (Deputy Director of Administration), Mr. Ojo Kubolaje (Head, department of Health Information Management), Barrister Oluwatosin Kumolalo (Head, Legal department), Mrs Bosede Olanusi (Deputy Director of Nursing Services) and Mr Ope Adesuyi.

The Ag. CMD., Dr. Gbala O. Micheal said the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital would be happy to receive the students from Wesley University once all formalities are completed. 

He lauded the Wesley University management for their visionary efforts to pursue programmes in medical and allied health sciences as these are relevant courses that will produce highly needed professionals to further boost the dwindling manpower in the health sector with attendant positive effect on the health of the nation. 

Dr Gbala reaffirmed the willingness of the teaching hospital to work with Wesley University in the training of their students . He assured the WU management of the highest level of teaching and hands on clinical exposure for their students.
