The management of Benson Idahosa University, Benin City yesterday announced that three engineering courses has been approved by Council of Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) for their school.
The news of the accreditation which was published on the school website stated the three engineering courses to be Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Civil Engineering.
The publication claimed the letter that back the accreditation of the three engineering programmes was sent to the university Vice Chancellor Professor Sam Guobadia by the country highest engineering regulatory body on 5th of July 2019. The publication also stated that accreditation is effective since 21st of March 2019 and it is valid until year 2022.
Benson Idahosa University Vice Chancellor, Professor Sam Guobadia while commenting on the achievement said it is in conformity with the vision of the school to become world class university.
On this same accreditation exercise: it could be recalled that about six weeks ago, National University Commission (NUC) approved the commencement of two new courses in the health and medical school of the university. The two health science programmes are Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science. It was contained in the letter that was sent to the school VC dated June 22, 2019.
The school management said various accreditation been given the institution recently will enhance speedy acquisition of relevant engineering and technology practice through professionalism and development.
