The drama was as a result of the initial refusal of Professor Suleiman Age, the Vice Chancellor of the institution to attend the ceremony and prevented the 32 graduating students from entering the university auditorium where the event was scheduled to take place but instead commanded the cancellation of the programme.
It was said that the Vice Chancellor action was because the graduating students did not pass a course which eventually had been waived by the immediate past Dean of the school department of of pharmaceutical science. Prof Age was of the opinion that he supposed to be carried along about the issue.
When the matter was eventually settled at the 4th graduation and induction/oath taking ceremony, Professor Age, while delivering his address enjoined the students to concentrate on developing and producing local drug for the cure of severe ailments that are prevalent in our society. He said, the students should always be in a lookout for various therapeutic alternative which are easy and affordable.
He further his address by saying the students should not relent, but continually updated their knowledges and skills in order to keep up with the current trend in issue relating to drug therapy management.
The induction/oath taking ceremony saw parents, guardians of the inductees in attendance. The university community and well wisher were also in attendance.
The host at the ceremony was Dr. Aremu Isaac, Acting Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science.
The keynote speaker at the occasion was Pharmacist Olugbenga Talabi, Managing Consultant/CEO Top Nigeria Limited.
