The management of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta yesterday play a host to a delegation of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Commission (NSCDC), Ogun State command who were on the official visit to the institution the early hours of yesterday.
During the visit, the commission, Ogun State command pledged it support for the university in the area of security and they spoke on their desire to work with the institution in securing lives and properties of the people in the society.
While speaking, the Ogun State NSCDC Commandant Hammed Abodunrin who led the delagation on the special visit stated that, "the security challenges are global issues and it is not as if the Nigerian situation is irredeemable. The problem is that we have an unconscious populace, who feel very secured because there were no security threats in the past'.
He then called for the creation of awareness among the people, the kind which will make them capable of providing effective security measures around themselves and their properties. The Commandant continues further by saying Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Commission (NSCDC) will listen and act promptly whenever their attention is needed.
While responding the Vice Chancellor Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Professor Felix Kolawole Salako first appreciated the delegate for the visit, he then stated that the visit was at a crucial time when the attention of the management of the institution has been drawn to the cases of illegal intruders on the property of the school.
The Professor then encouraged the FUNAAB community to always be alert and be watchful of illegal occupants so as not to give a chance to an act of criminality by the hoodlums. He therefore urged the command to be at alert to provide internal and external security for the institution when the time comes.
