Ajayi Polytechnic Engineering Courses, Accreditation and Entry Requirements

Ajayi Polytechnic is a private higher institution of learning located in Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State. The school is established to provide technical and vocational training in Engineering, Social Sciences, Natural Science, Management Science, Humanities and Environmental Science to students from anywhere in Nigeria, irrespective of ethnicity background, religions and political beliefs.

There are two Engineering programmes available at Ajayi Polytechnic and they are listed below:

  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Computer Science and Engineering
Training in these two engineering programmes lead to the award of National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND). Both National and Higher National Diploma programmes run for duration of two years apiece.


Approval and Accreditation

Ajayi Polytechnic and it's engineering programmes are approved and accredited by  National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). A graduate from the institution and the certificate earned can be used to  apply for and get job as a technician or technologist depending on the level of qualification.

A certificate from this institution is also recognised for further education at all other major higher institutions of learning in Nigeria and abroad.

The school graduates are also participating in the mandatory National Youth Service Corp (NYSC).


Entry Requirements

For a candidate to be offered a provisional admission by Ajayi Polytechnic to study any of the engineering courses listed above, the candidate must have written, pass and make the set cut off mark for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination  (UTME).

The candidate must also pass the Ajayi Polytechnic post UTME, making the cut off mark of his choice engineering programme.

Along with this, he must also have four credit passes from one or two of the under listed secondary school examinations:
  • Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or
  • NECO or 
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE)
The four credit passes must include science subjects like Physics and Mathematics and Chemistry and either biology, technical drawing or Agricultural Science. Ordinary pass in English Language is acceptable.

Technical School certificate:

 National Technical Certificate (NTC)  in a relevant programme  including credit passes in Mathematics and Physics will be accepted.


Other Qualifications


Pre-ND programme candidate  will be considered for admission provide all other requirements as stated above are met.
