FUTA Students Involved in Intimidating Mate Suspended with Immediate Effect

The management of Federal University of Technology, Akure announced yesterday the suspension of the students of the institution involved in intimidating a 100L female student in a accident that occurred off campus on 16th of November 2019.

The publication from the school stated that the suspension of the students who are eight in number was with immediate effect, saying that the affected students will not be able to participate in any academic or related activities even while investigating to unrivaled the circumstances that led to such an evil act continues.

The school further stated that the students must not be found anywhere within the vicinity of the Federal University of Technology Akure campus pending the conclusion of the  investigation.

Meanwhile, the management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure has reiterate it commitment to make sure the university community is a save haven for both the students and staffs and so will not relent in it effort to achieve this, stating that anybody found guilty on this horrendous act will be dealt with according to the rules and regulations that guide students behaviours and conducts on and off campus at the conclusion of the investigation.

The names of the suspended students as published by the school authority are:

  • Folayan Oluwayemi Helen EWM (100L)
  • Popoola Olaniyi Agboola IDD (300L)
  • Oluwadare Faith Tobiloba FST (200L)
  • Nandi Yohanna Jessica IPE (200L)
  • Ajuwon Tolani Emmanuella FAT (100L)
  • Emmanuel Funmilayo Taiwo FAT (100L)
On the same vein the Students Union Government of Federal University of Technology Akure has put out a publication to condemn the brutal action of the suspended students saying no matter the causes, such treatment should not have been melted on the fellow student.

The publication which was duly signed by Comrade Ajela Ifeoluwa E. Ifekitan, the Public Relation Office of Federal University of Technology, Akure Students Union (FUTASU) says " On no account should a student lay a finger on another student, the students handbook of information is very lucid about this".

The publication stated further that the union in conjunction with the school management will ensure that justice is served and all those involved are dealt with. 

It should be recalled that last week, on 16th of Nov. 2019, a group of students whose names appear above has gone on to beat a first years student of the Department of Ecotourism and Wildlife Management, inflicting injury on her. The video which revealed the incident shows that it occurred off campus of the institution. 

Meanwhile, it was revealed that the student in question is presently recieving medical treatment and counselling support.
