Ashi Polytechnic Engineering Courses, Accreditation and Entry Requirements

Ashi Polytechnic, Anyiin is one of the few private polytechnics in Benue State. It was established to complement Nigeria Government effort in it drives to provide adequate and qualitative education for all and sundry in the country.

At it establishment the school aims to provide a platform on which a qualitative technical education is given thereby producing highly skill manpower needed to drive the country industry economy.

Ashi Polytechnic, Anyiin, Benue State runs two engineering programmes and they are listed below:


  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering and
  • Computer Engineering

Both engineering courses are available at National Diploma (OND) and at Higher National Diploma (HND). Each of the courses runs for a duration of two years at each level for full time students and run for three years at each level for part time students.


Approval and Accreditation

Ashi Polytechnic is approved by Federal Ministry of Education and it's engineering programme accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in Nigeria. That means:

  • Graduates  from the school can apply for a job in industry as a technician or technologist depending on the qualification presented
  • Graduates of the institution are eligible to participate in the one year mandatory National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme.
  • Certificate earn from Ashi Polytechnic can be used for further education at any of the major tertiary institutions in the country and abroad.
  • Graduates from the school are eligible  to register with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) as technician or technologist.

Entry Requirements


For a candidate to be offered a provisional admission by Ashi Polytechnic to study any of the engineering courses listed above, the candidate must have written, pass and make the set cut off mark for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination  (UTME).

The candidate must also pass the Ashi Polytechnic post UTME, making the cut off mark of his choice engineering programme.

Along with this, he must also have four credit passes from one or two of the under listed secondary school examinations:
  • Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or
  • NECO or 
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE)
The four credit passes must include science subjects like Physics and Mathematics and Chemistry and either biology, technical drawing or Agricultural Science. Ordinary pass in English Language is acceptable.

Technical School certificate:

 National Technical Certificate (NTC)  in a relevant programme  including credit passes in Mathematics and Physics will be accepted.


Other Qualifications


Pre-ND programme candidate  will be considered for admission provide all other requirements as stated above are met.
