University of Maiduguri UNIMAID Engineering Courses and Entry Requirements

University of Maiduguri was established in 1975 and started academics session in 1976 with three faculties non of which included Faculty of Engineering. Today UNIMAID has grown to have 12 faculties among which is Faculty of Engineering,

The Faculty of Engineering at University of Maiduguri has seven departments and the courses they taught are listed below.

 The following are the Engineering Course available at University of Maiduguri.


The listed courses above are fully accredited by Federal Ministry of Education and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria COREN.

Each of the Engineering courses runs for five years leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree.


Admission Requirements

There are two ways by which an applicant can gain admission to study any of the above courses in as much as he satisfy the admission requirements.
  1. Through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) this include Pre-degree programme which qualify students to be admitted into 100 level and
  2. Through Direct Entry, including JUPEB which qualifies students to be admitted to 200 level.

For a student to be considered for admission to undergraduate degree through UTME (1) above, he must have five credit passes from either
  • West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/(NECO)
  • General Certificate Examination (GCE)
The five credit passes must include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics or Geography or Biology and it must not be at more than two sittings.

A student must also pass Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) after which he must also pass the University of Maiduguri UNIMAID post UTME, making the required Cut-Off Mark for his chosen engineering programme.

It is also required of a student to pass one of the three exams above before he could be considered for an admission by direct entry.
