University of Benin UNIBEN Engineering Courses and Admission Requirement

On this page is listed all the engineering programmes on offer at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Faculty of Engineering.

Note: all courses are run for a duration of five years leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Certificate and they are all fully accredited by the Council for the Regulation of engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

Each of the engineering programmes are offer at all level (bachelor, master, post graduate diploma and doctorate) of the degree programme in the university.

Admission Requirements

There are two ways by which an applicant can gain admission to study any of the above courses in as much as he satisfy the admission requirements.
  1. Through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) this include Pre-degree programme which qualify students to be admitted into 100 level and
  2. Through Direct Entry, including JUPEB which qualifies students to be admitted to 200 level.

For a student to be considered for admission to undergraduate degree through UTME (1) above, he must have five credit passes from either
  • West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/(NECO)
  • General Certificate Examination (GCE)
The five credit passes must include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics or Geography or Biology and it must not be at more than two sittings.

A student must also pass Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) after which he must also pass the University of Benin (UNIBEN) post UTME, making the required Cut-Off Mark for his chosen engineering programme.

It is also required of a student to pass one of the three exams above before he could be considered for an admission by direct entry.
