University of Cape Town is one of the few universities that offer Biomedical Engineering as a course in South Africa and this page explain in detail what it requires to study the course at the prestigious institution. 

Biomedical Engineering is not one of the undergraduate degree option at the University of Cape Town. The course is only taught as a post graduate engineering course and so, for you to be able to study Biomedical Engineering at UCT you must have earned your first degree qualification.


Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering, University of Cape Town

University of Cape Town don't run Biomedical Engineering as an undergraduate degree programme.

Master of Science (MSc) Biomedical Engineering

The MSc Biomedical Engineering at UCT is offered on a full-time study mode only and it  lasted the duration of (2) two years.

MSc Biomedical Engineering Admission Requirements 

A four-year Bachelor degree in suitable  engineering courses preferably in electrical engineering or mechatronics engineering or computer engineering or mechanical engineering or an Honour Degree in Mathematical, Physics or Computer Sciences are what it required to be considered to study the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Engineering
To be eligible for admission to study PhD Biomedical Engineering programme the school required candidates to satisfy the general requirements of the Faculty of Health Science among which is an applicant must have earned his second degree qualification in Biomedical Engineering.

The PhD is also offered on a full-time study mode only.
