Software Engineering Course University of Pretoria, Gauteng

To study Software Engineering at University of Pretoria requires a bit of commitment on the part of a student. The degree, though highly sought after in the labour market,  is not done at undergraduate degree level in the institution.

The programmes that is available instead is Computer Engineering, one of the paths to becoming a professional Software Engineers.

Computer Engineering is taught in the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (IT)

MEng Software Engineering

A student can study software engineering only at post-graduate level at University of Pretoria.
MEng Software Engineering  is a 1 year degree programme which is conferred on the basis of dissertation and an average 125 credits.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to study Master of Engineering (MEng)  programme in Software Engineering
  • A student must have earned his first degree certificate
  • The first degree programme must be in relevant engineering courses  i e Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • The BEng degree must be earned with weighted average of nothing less than 65%
  • An applicant must also satisfy the requirements for the first degree programme.
