A report from South African said a postgraduate student of University of Fort Hare was yesterday morning, February 8 stabbed to death on the Alice campus of the institution.
The student whose names were given as Yonela Boli was said to be stabbed to death by a suspected fellow student of the institution but what might have caused the action was not known at the press time.
The report said, Yonela a 24 years old postgraduate student died shortly after he arrived Victoria Hospital in Alice. The young man was reading for his MSC Geology programme when the incident happened.
An interviewed worker at Eastern Cape Health Department stated that Yonela was brought into the hospital early hours of Saturday: around 4am with a 3cm deep stab in his back.
Sizwe Kipelo added by saying Boli was immediately attended to by one of the Doctors on duty but got cardiac arrest which led him to giving up the ghost an hour later.
Meanwhile, the University of Fort Hare's Director of Institutional said, the suspected student who also happened to be a close friend to the deceased had been arrested.
Tandi Mapukala said the suspect was a senior student of the institution and both were registered member of the university community.
A police officer with Provincial Police Department, Khaya Thonjeni said the suspect would be arraigned in Alice magistrate court comes Tuesday, 11th February this week.
