I Chose The Path of Honour and Moral Excellence Rather Than Tow The Line of Bribery and Corruption: Founder Crescent University

The above was part of address made by the Judge Bola Ajibola, the Founder of Crescent University at the 15th Matriculation programme of the institution.

"It is my joy to welcome our Freshers to the campus. Today mark another milestone in the annals of our prestigious Crescent University, Abeokuta which prides itself as Citadel of Academic and Moral Excellence.

About five hundred of you will be matriculating today, a significant increase from last Matriculation figure.AL HAMDU LILLAH RABBIL 'AALAMEEN.

For the past fifteen years of our existence as a model institution of learning, our products have been great in academics and excellent in character. This is pedestalled on our mission to build a morally upright society through our products who are our ambassadors. That this vision has, in fact, come to fruition in my lifetime is an ultimate accomplishment.

I served this country for six years and three months donating all my salaries partly to the government, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) which was (and still is) my constituency, and hugely to the needy through charitable organizations.

I chose the path of honour and moral excellence rather than tow the line of bribery and corruption. All gifts to my office as Attorney-general and Minister of Justice were auctioned quarterly while the proceeds were returned to government coffers on my instruction. It gladdens my heart that those who have passed through this university before you have towed this line of moral excellence. It is my hope that all of you in this auditorium will join this success story.

Our alumni who were once like you have distinguished themselves in character and learning, in employment as well as further studies nationally and globally. Since inception, our emphasis on both academic and moral excellence is borne out of the fact that "a bird does not fly with one wing".

Our university does not breed brilliant beasts.It is good to be brilliant academically but it is best to possess both academic and good morals combined in one brain.

At Crescent University, it is not enough to be academically brilliant but also maintain a good conduct. Here, we call it Academic  few Plus. Only few of our graduates who combined the best qualities of our Academic Plus have won themselves my prizes at our convocation ceremonies. I hope you will be the winner in your set.

My dear students, I want to assure you that you are in safe hands here. Our competent lecturers and counsellors are on hand to guide you throughout your stay in this noble university.

While congratulating your parents for making the right choice of Crescent University, I welcome you all on board our Academic and Moral Excellence".
