To study Electrical Engineering at the Durham University, England, United Kingdom, student will have to apply to study General Engineering as a course.

This General Engineering programme encompassess all other branches of engineering that are taught at the university. This is irrespective of whether you want to do BEng or MEng.

In the 3rd years of entry, students will then have opportunity to choose a field of engineering specialisation which include but not limited to Eectrical Engineering. This is no different from BEng programme. The first two years are used to teach students fundamental engineering subjects. 

The third and the fourth year of study focus on the students area of specialization: Electrical Engineering. While BEng programme lasted a duration of 3 years, the MEng lasted a duration of 4 years. So, with BEng, the last year of study is committed to study core subjects in the area of the students specialisation.

A student who choose the Electrical  Engineering route must undertake certain compulsory modules in the third and fourth years of study. They are specific to this field of specialization.

The fourth years of study (MEng programme specifically) is majorly devoted to doing an engineering project under a strict supervision of an highly experience teacher.
