Choosing Computer Engineering as career will see you taking up a job in a computer company, designing computer hardware systems, updating them and managing them. If you choose to specialise in the area of software engineering then you will face developing software parts of the computer, developing operation systems, mobile application, web application, robot software, car software and more and that is when you are refers to as a programmer.
A student would be admitted to study Computer Engineering at UNIUYO through
this two examination processes: UTME or DIRECT ENTRY.
UTME Candidates:
To be granted an admission to study Computer Engineering at University of Uyo as an Ordinary Level candidate, students must have at least Credit Passes in five (5) O/L subjects which must include:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry and one of
- Technology Drawing
- Further Mathematics
- Geography
- Data Processing
- Biology
- Welding and Fabrication
- Economics
- Wood Work
The student must sit for, pass and make the cut off mark for UTME.
UTME subjects combination are:
- Mathematic
- Physics
- Chemisty and
- English Language
He must also pass UNIUYO Post UTME examination, making the minimum requirements to study Computer Engineering.
Direct Entry Candidates
These following qualifications and others as deem fit by the Senate of the University of Uyo will be accepted to apply for a Direct Entry to study Computer Engineering.
GCE A/L passes in two subjects (Physic and Mathematic) and one other.
National Diploma (ND) result in relevant engineering programmes (admission to 200 level). Minimum of Upper Credit will be considered for admission by the University of Uyo, Department of Computer Engineering.
HND results in relevant engineering programmes (admission to 300 level)
IJMB: student must score the minimum entry requirements to be admitted to 200 level
Plus minimum O/L entry requirements as stated above.
Computer Engineering at University of Uyo (UNIUYO) is a five (5) years degree programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Honour in Computer Engineering on successful completion of the programme.
The programme at UNIUYO is approved by National University Commission (NUC) and fully accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
