Rivers State University Electrical Engineering and Entry Requirements

Electrical Engineering help other engineering disciplines grow. Not much could be achieved in the  fields of other engineering and in the world at large without electricity: the work of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. They give us electricity to light our home and our streets; to power almost all gadgets (phones, radio, air-condition, television, iron, microwave oven, computers, fax machines, electronics medical devices, cars and more)  we use everyday and  even the factories and research institutions where other engineering researches and projects are done.

Below is the entry requirements to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Rivers State University.

Admission to undergraduate study for this programme is through JAMB's UTME and Direct Entry. Application must be made by either of the two.

UTME Candidates

To be considered for an admission to study this programme at Rivers State University, students must have minimum of credit passes in five O/L subjects from:

• WASSCE: West African Senior School Certificate of Examination
• GCE: General Certificate of Education or
• SSCE: Senior Secondary Certificate of Examination 

at not more than two sittings and the subjects must include:

• Physics
• Mathematic
• English Language and 
• Chemistry
• Plus one of the following:
• Biology
• Data Processing
• Technical Drawing
• Further Mathematics
• Economics
• Agricultural Science
• Geography
• Metal Work

The student must sit for, pass and make the cut off mark of the UTME.
The UTME subjects combinations are:

• Physics 
• Mathematics
• Chemistry and
• English Language

He must also sit for and pass Rivers State University post UTME making the Cut-Off mark for the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Direct Entry Candidates

For a direct entry applicant to be considered for an admission to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Rivers State University, he must have the following:

GCE A/L: at least passes from two subjects (Physics and Mathematics) to be considered for 200 levels

National Diploma (ND): Upper credit in relevant engineering programmes to be considered for 200 level.

Higher National Diploma (HND): Upper credit in relevent engineering programmes to be considered for 300 level.

All these plus the credit passes in five O/L subjects as s listed above.

Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree certificate is awarded to students on successful completion of the five (5) years programme at RIvers State University, Portharcourt.
