Chemical Engineering at Bayero University and entry requirements
Chemical Engineering started to be  taught at Bayero University, Kano in the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department in years 2015/2016 academic session. The programme is design to produce graduates who can contribute to solving myriad of challenges facing humanity through the development and use of various chemicals.

Studying Chemical Engineering at Bayero University, Kano prepares students to work in the industries such as Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Food Processing, Iron and Steel and Agro-Allied industries and in the Consulting Firms, Research and Educational Institutions. 

Application to Study Chemical Engineering at Bayero University, Kano is done two way:
  • As JAMB/UTME Candidates and 
  • As Direct Entry Candidates

JAMB/UTME Candidates.

Students seeking admission to study Chemical Engineering at BUK must have credit passes in at least 5 subjects from:
  • WASSCE or
  • SSCE or 
  • GCE. 
The subjects must include:
  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Physics and
  • Chemistry 
Plus one of the following subjects
  • Biology
  • Technical Drawing
  • Data Processing
  • Further Mathematics
  • Agricultural Science
  • Metal works
  • Economics
  • Geography
The five credit passes must not be at more than two (2) sittings.

Students must also sit for and pass JAMB/UTME examination making the cut off mark. JAMB/UTME subjects combination are:
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Physic and
  • English Language

Bayero University, Kano Post UTME 

To be eligible for admission, applicants must also write and pass Bayero University Post UTME, making the cut off mark for the  Chemical Engineering.

DIRECT ENTRY Candidates

  • GCE Advance Level (A/L) with passes in three (3) subjects which must include Physics and Chemistry and Mathematics  be accepted for admission to 200 level.
  • IJMB result with required number of points will also be accepted for admission to 200 level.
  • National Diploma (ND) in Chemical or other relevant Engineering programmes from a goverment approved Polytechnic with minimum of Upper Credit will be accepted to 200 level
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Chemical Engineering from an accredited Polytechnic will also be considered for admission, but in this case to 300 level if with minimum of Upper Credit.
Chemical Engineering at Bayero University, Kano is a five (5) years degree programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng)  on successful completion of the study
