This is a happy news and it is coming from Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL) Niger State.
The management of the institution has announced that the Computer Science programme have received full academic accreditation from the National Universities Commission(NUC).
A publication by the IBBUL stated that the news of the full accreditatiin was conveyed to them in a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor and signed by the Commission's Director of Accreditation, Dr. Maryam Sali. The approval which include Biology and Mass Communication is the result of an exercise conducted in late last year by the Commission as part of its statutory mandate to accredit academic programmes in the nation's Universities.
The letter stated further that while Mass Communication is in the Social Science, Biology and Computer Science are in the Science category, and that the full accreditation is for a period of five years.
Commenting on the result, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu appreciated the effort of Niger State Government under the leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello for the financial support given to the University for the exercise and looking forward for the next support towards 2020 exercise which will involve fourteen programmes.
Similarly, the Vice Chancellor also extended his appreciation to the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology under the Honourable Commissioner, Professor Abubakar Baba Aliyu for all the encouragement and support.
It would be recalled that the National Universities Commission organised the accreditation exercise of academic programmes in the University in October/November 2019 to ascertain their viability.
To this end students of the institution who are already doing these three programme and about to graduate don't have to worry whether their certificates would be accepted in the labour market for jobs or not.
This is another success story of the University present management under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor Professor Abu Kasim Adamu.
