University of Nigeria Nsukka UNN Postgraduate engineering and entry requirements

Listed on this page are the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) taught engineering post graduate (PG) courses and the minimum entry requirements to study each of the courses.

All the six (6) departments that make up the Faculty of Engineering at UNN teach all types of postgraduate degree courses: Postgraduate Diploma (PGD); Master of Science (MSc); Master of Engineering (MEng) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Entry Requirements to Study for Post Graduate Engineering Programmes


POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD)
First degree, minimum of 3rd class with at least 2.0 GPA on a 5 points scale in relevant engineering programme from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) or other recognise Nigerian universities.

Holders of Higher National Diploma in relevant engineering disciplines with upper credit. Candidates with lower credit but with at least three may be considered for admission. 

Only university degrees but in relevant programmes are accepted to study for PGD Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, 

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMME
  • First Degree, minimum of Second Class honour with at least 2.50 GPA on a 5 points scale. 
  • Postgraduate Diploma from UNN or other recognise institution in relevant engineering programmes. Minimum of credit pass with at least 3.50 GPA on a 5-point scale or 3.0 GPA on 4-point scale.
  • University of Nigeria Nsukka will consider for admission candidates whose first degrees are said to be unclassified but have average score of 50% or above;

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY DEGREE PROGRAMME (PhD)

Master’s degree from UNN or other recognise Nigerian universities from relevant engineering programme with a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.
