University of Calabar is among the few universities in Nigeria that award a degree on Computer Engineering and not the computer science.
The course is about integration of computer science with electronic engineering to develop hardware and software parts of the system. This is one of the reasons why the course is offers as Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at some universities.
At University of Calabar, students are taught how the computer electronic parts (hardware) are designed, developed and are working in relation to one another and with the system software, awarding Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree at the end of the studies.
