Tamunoimi Abbey Directed to Proceed on Terminal Leave Following the Expiration of Tenure

Prof Tamunoimi Micheal Abbey, Rector Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny has been directed to proceed on Administrative Terminal leave by the Federal Minister of Education, with effect from 23rd of November, 2022 through a letter to the Chairman, Governing Council and copied the Registrar who is also the Secretary of the Governing Council  of the Institution, Altina Boma-George. 

A publication by the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny which was share on social media by Gift G. Green of Public Relations Office stated that the action was in accordance with the Provision of the Public Service Rules, No: 100238 and Federal Polytechnic Act (As Amended) 2019, Sections 8 (1), 6 (a-e) and 12(3) with regards to the expiration of his non- renewable five (5) years tenure as the Rector, Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.

With this, the Registrar has been instructed by the Governing Council to immediately put up an advertisement for the vacant position of the Rector, which according to the Minister, is a process that is supposed to have started long before now.

The Polytechnic Community is by this notice implored to continue to maintain law and order that has been in existence since inception. 

Prof. Tamunoimi Micheal Abbey was appointed the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny in 2018 and his one term tenure is expected to expire comes February 2023.
