The first student ever to be granted an admission into the newly created Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) have been revealed by the management of the institution and the person was Odunewu Maridiya Titilope.
Odunewu was granted an admission into the university in 2022/2223 academic section with the total score of 247 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
The first student, was admitted into the Department of Architecture in the College of Environmental Studies and Technology, having been cleared by the college officer and payment of fee.
The girl, whose state of origin was Lagos State, from the Lagos Island local government was assigned with the matriculation number: 220401010001.
Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) was formerly Largos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH). The Lagos State government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the conversion of the school into the university in 2021 and was formally recognised as a university in 2022 when National University Commission (NUC) issued it Certificate of Recognition.
This is the third time the institution would changed name. It was first Lagos State College of Science and Technology (LACOSTECH). In 1986 it was renamed Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) and in 2021 Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
