AAU Approved New Dress Code for Students of The College of Medicine

The management of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma has approved new dress code for the students of the College of Medicine.

A internal memorandum to that effect dated 14th of March, 2023, from the office of the provost to all dean and all head of department of the Colly of Medicine, Ambrose Alli University (AAU), seen by this writer goes thus: 

I am directed to inform you that the College Academic Board at its emergency meeting held on the 2nd of February 2023 approved dress code for students in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences and Clinical Sciences of the College of Medicine as follows: 

Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences 

Dressing Code for Male Students: while long/short sleeves, with tie on ash coloured trousers. Ash coloured scrub (top and trousers) 

Dressing Code for Female Students: white short sleeves on 3/4 skirt. Ash coloured scrub (top and trousers)

Tag: carry names and the department of the students. Must be worn always for easy identification. 

While the above are stated to be approved items to be worn, the internal memorandum also listed those that are not allowed to be worn and they are: 

  • Colouring hair (male and female) 
  • Dreading of hair (male) 
  • Plaiting hair (male) 
  • Exposing of tattoos (male and female) 
  • Wearing of Slippers (male and female) 
  • Wearing of earrings (male)  and 
  • Wearing of Jeans (male and female)

Faculty of Basic Clinical and Clinical Sciences

Dress Code for Male Students: dress corporately in long/short sleeves shirt with tie. 

Not Allow to Wear
  • T-Shirt 
  • Jumpy Trousers 
  • Native Attires and 
  • Sagging Trousers 

Dress Code for Female Students
  • All dresses and skirt must be at least 4 inches beneath knees. 
  • Female trousers must be loose 
  • Sleeveless attires are not allowed. 

General: ward coat must be worn in the morning in the clinic and during practical session  

Tag carry student names and the department must be worn for easy identification and 

In Addition: 
 
  • Colouring hair (males and females)

  • Wearing of Jeans (male and female)

The memorandum however stated that the defaulters will be sanctioned in line with the University circular on "(Ban of Indecent Dressing/Posture Sanction)" issued on 1st of February, 2023 which content also apply to students in the College of Medicine.
