Civil Engineering and Entry Requirements | Alex Ekwueme University

Alex Ekwueme Federal University  is one of the about  twenty-five (25) universities in South-West and South-South of Nigeria where Civil Engineering is offered as a taught course. It a public research institution located in Ebonyi State. 

Civil Engineering at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo (AEFUNA) teaches how seaign develop and manage infrastructures with little budget but with outmost safety. 

By the time students are graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering, AEFUNA after successful completion of the five (5) years course they must have acquired skills necessary to be successful in the civil engineering industry.  

Listed below are the minimum entry requirements to study for a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Civil Engineering at Alex Ekwueme Federal University. This i life for the senior secondary school certificates holder and direct entry plus the WAEC and JAMB subjects combination.

 

Entry Requirements for School Certificate Holders 

Five O'Level credit passes in the following subjects. 

WAEC Subjects Combination 

  • Mathematics 
  • Physics
  • Chemistry 
  • English Language and one other science subject: 
  • Biology 
  • Technical Drawing 
  • Applied Mathematics 
  • Agricultural Science 

The five O'Level credit must not be more than at two sittings from one or two of the following examinations 
  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 
  • NECO/SSCE 
  • General Certificate of Education 

JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME)

O/level applicants must make the cut off mark for the JAMB coordinated UTME and for the Department of Civil Engineering screening. 


JAMB Subjects Combination 
  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry and 
  • English Language 

Direct Entry Minimum Requirements 

  • Advance Level (GCE/JUPEB): minimum of C grade in two advance level subjects, Mathematics  and Physics.  
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering courses. 
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): credit in relevant engineering courses.  

Alex Ekwueme Federal University Pre-Degree Programme 

O/level students who lack merit in UTME to gain admission to the undergraduate Civil Engineering could register for the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Pre-Degree Programme to facilitate their admission. 

Note: admission by just O'Level qualifications and Pre-degree programme qualify applicants to 100 level of the course, while those giving an admission by direct entry are admitted to 200 or 300 level depending on the qualification submitted.
