The minimum entry requirements are stated below: 


Entry Requirements for School Certificate Holders 

Five O'Level credit passes in the following subjects. 

WAEC Subjects Combination 

  • Mathematics 
  • Physics
  • Chemistry 
  • English Language and one other science subject: 
  • Biology 
  • Technical Drawing 
  • Applied Mathematics 
  • Agricultural Science 

The five O'Level credit must not be more than at two sittings from one or two of the following examinations 
  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 
  • NECO/SSCE 
  • General Certificate of Education 

JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME)

O/level applicants must make the cut off mark for the JAMB coordinated UTME and the Department of Mechanical Engineering screening cut off mark. 


JAMB Subjects Combination 
  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry and 
  • English Language 

Direct Entry Minimum Requirements 

  • Advance Level (GCE/JUPEB): minimum of C grade in two advance level subjects, Mathematics  and Physics.  
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering courses. 
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): credit in relevant engineering courses.  

Alex Ekwueme Federal University Pre-Degree Programme 

O/level students who lack merit in UTME to gain admission to the undergraduate Mechanical Engineering could register for the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Pre-Degree Programme to facilitate an admission. 

Note: admission by just O'Level qualifications and Pre-degree programme qualify applicants to 100 level of the course, while those giving an admission by direct entry are admitted to 200 or 300 level depending on the qualification submitted.

Mechanical Engineering at AEFUNA is accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
