Mechanical Engineering as a profession design, develop, repair and maintain any type of machines. But when it comes with production, that means it includes planing, coordinating and managing all or part of the manufacturing activities involve in the production of a particular machine, equipment, plant, tool or product for maximum output and at low cost.

Entry Requirements Mechanical and Production Engineering 

The minimum entry requirements stated on this page is for the holders of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and for the holders of Diploma qualifications


Holders of KCSE

  • Minimum mean grade of C+(Plus) at KCSE and 
  • C+ (plus) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English/Kiswahili or Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and English.

OR

  • “A” level certificate with at least 2 principal passes and a subsidiary in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. 

Holders of Diploma

  • KNEC Diploma in the relevant field or its equivalent from an institution recognized by Moi University Senate 
  • KNEC Higher National Diploma in the relevant field or its equivalent from an institution recognized by Moi University Senate.


Requirements for Graduation 

The Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical and Production Engineering is a five (5) years degree programme at Moi University and it requires students to undergo series of classroom lectures, practical works in laboratories and workshops, compulsory industrial attachments in year 3, 4 and 5, a final year project and must complete 238 units to be certified for graduation.
