AFRL $5.3m Grant to Help UTEP Boost Training of Future Engineers

Air Force Research Laboratory has granted the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP) the sum of Five Million Three Hundred Thousands Dollar ($5,300,000.00). The grant is meant to be channelled toward the training of next generation of engineers in the field of aerospace and defence manufacturing sectors in US. 

A publication by the University of Texas, El Paso UTEP stated that the grant will help boost variety of training programs the Aerospace Center's Digital Engineering Aerospace and Defense Systems Design Centers (DEDCs) in El Paso; Youngstown, Ohio; and Huntsville, Alabama offered. 

Digital Engineering Aerospace and Defense Systems Design Centers (DEDC) are state of art training facilities in El Paso, Huntsville and in Youngstown that are established to prepare well trained manpower with transformational digital engineering skill for the US aerospace and defense industries. 

A source from the University of Texas, El Paso stated that the grant represent the confidence the AFRL have in the institution to carry out the task which include research and innovation in digital engineering and the development of talent in advance digital skill. 

It is reported that the project will armed 200 engineering and technology students with basic knowledge to launch their career in the aerospace and defense industry. The report stated that graduate and undergraduate students from the universities, career and technical education (CTE) in grade 9 through 12 as well as from two years colleges will be considered for the program.
