The Executive Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited was honoured alongside Mrs. Olajumoke Anifowoshe, former Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Ondo State and last child of the first democratically elected Governor of Ondo State, Chief Adekunle Ajasin and Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, Registrar, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
In an opening remarks by the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Bode Ayorinde, noted that Engr. Ife Oyedele who graduated from the UNILAG with a BSc (Honour) in Electrical Engineering in 1982 was considered for the honorary award for his contributions to human development and for his numerous contributions to the development of Ondo State.
The robe and degree of Doctor of Engineering was afterwards presented to him by the Chancellor, RT. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In his response, Dr. IfeOluwa Oyedele thanked the leadership of the university for bestowing the award on him and charged the graduating students to continue to uphold their character in the face of trials and triumph in life. He also pledged to continue to support the university, starting with a N5 million endowment as well as the promise of a building.
While at UNILAG Engineer Ifeoluwa Ayodele was the Secretary General, University of Lagos Engineering Students Society; Member, UNILAG Students Union Parliament and was also the Governor of Overbridge Extension Hall.
Engineer Ifeoluwa Ayodele hold many other honours including but not limited to:
- Fellow Nigerian Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (FNIEEE)
- Fellow Nigerian Institute of Power Engineers (FNIPE)
- Fellow Nigeria Society of Engineers (FNSE)
The Okitipupa born engineer is blessed with a wife and children.
