Registrar NMCN Honoured With A Doctorate Degree By The Achievers University, Owo

The current Secretary General cum Registrar, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has been honoured with a Doctorate Degree award by the first private university in Ondo State, the Achievers University, Owo. 

The conferment of the honorary Doctorate Degree on Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar was at the 13th Convocation ceremony of the institution which was held on Saturday, 9th of December 2023. He was honoured alongside The Executive Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, Engineer Ifeoluwa Ayodele and Mrs. Olajumoke Anifowoshe, former Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Ondo State and last child of the first democratically elected Governor of Ondo State, Chief Adekunle Ajasin. 

While delivering a message at the occasion, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III said Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar was deemed worthy to be honoured with a Doctorate Degree owing to his great contribution to the development of education in Nigeria and the society at large.  

The registrar was thereafter robed and was presented with the award by the Chancellor of Achievers Univeraity, RT. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives. 

Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar was appointed as the registrar of NMCN in 2016. He will be at the helm of affair of the organisation until year 2024 having had his appointment renew for the second and the last term in 2020. 

Dr. Faruk completed his secondary school education at the Government Secondary, Sokoto in 1983. He attended University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), the University of Ghana and the Maryam Abacha American University for his Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate degree respectfully. 

He hold a Masters in Public Administration from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto and is a registered member of the Nursing and Mildwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and a Fellow of West African College of Nursing. 

The Ondo State governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON was represented by the Caretaker Chairman of Owo Local Government, Hon. Samuel Olabade Adegbegi at the occasion.
