CoMUI Alumna Launches Nigeria First Private Geriatric Hospital in Lagos

JBS Gerontology Centre, Nigeria's first private geriatric hospital and one-stop specialist centre for the older age group, was formally inaugurated in Lagos on Wednesday 7th February 2024.

We are proud to announce that the Founder and Medical Director is Dr OluToyin Akande-Ajala, an alumnus of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI) set of 1991.

The United Nations reported an expected surge in the global elderly population. Recognizing Nigeria's aging demographic, JBS Medicare Services, the leading elderly healthcare service in Nigeria, founded by Dr. Akande-Ajala, a UK trained Consultant Geriatrician, launched this cutting-edge facility in Lekki, Lagos, to cater to the elderly's health needs, offering specialized services and West Africa’s first Dementia Day Activities Unit.

The event was well attended by healthcare professionals and the public amassing in attendance to over 200 guests.

It is safe to say, that the future of geriatric healthcare in Nigeria and Africa at large is safe in the hands of pioneers like Dr Toyin Akande Ajala [a distinguished alumnus of the ICOMAA set of ‘91] and her cutting-edge facility.
