When interviewed, the young Linstead lady, who was once an intern within the office of marketing and communications said she was not surprised by her selection as part of the engineering crews aboard the ship saying it was an opportunity she had been waiting for.
While speaking about her chosen career, Officer Bailey said she had wanted to tread a different path, pursuing a career which is non traditional and therefore decided to pursue a career in the maritime industry.
The former student of The Queen School, Kingston stated that chosen a career at sea was the best decision she had ever made, knowing that marine engineering is a male dominated profession and taking into consideration what she was able to achieve within short time of her journey into the field.
Ms. Bailey also said she had to accept the offer with both her hands hoping to put into practice all what she had learnt at the Caribbean Maritime University and thereby improving herself professionally.
She finally said she want to make the school proud by being it good ambassador while at sea.
Seychelle Bailey, is a final year student of CMU. She is expected to join other members of the marine engineering crew when the ship set sailing comes August this year..
