The presentation which took place in the Senate Chamber of the prestigious institution was made possible with the support of Huawei Technologies, Nigeria and it saw 5 units of routers and 5 units of smartphones presented to five outstanding students of the institution.
The lucky students who were selected from accross various faculties of the University went home each with Huawei smartphones that came loaded with six months free airtime and data.
While commending the good gesture of Glo Mobile Limited and Huawei Technologies, Nigeria, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Kayode Adebowale who represent the University VC, thank both companies for their contribution toward the scholarship.
The DVC congratulated the selected students for their outstanding performance. He then enjoined them to make good use of the facilities provided them by the institution to achieve greatness.
In his own words, Globacom Regional Manager, Mr. Abidemi Emmanuel stated that the programme was designed to encourage students of ICT related courses in their study. He said Globacom is a leader in Nigeria in internet and communication services.
Mr. Emmanuel said, "Data is Oxygen and Essence of Life and their network is superior to others". He then round off his speech by saying Globacom network is designed to be used by everyone.
