This statement was made in his address at the 6th Convocation Lecture of Landmark University, Omu-Aran in Kwara State.
Professor Faborode, a former Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife who also happened to be the immediate past Secretary of Committee of Vice Chancellor stated that for Nigerian agricultural sector to achieve the desire transformation needed it must be technologically driven, for it is only by this there would be high yield of farm produce, reduction in wastage and thereby increasing farmers income.
The Professor said, technologically, Nigerian youths are sound and this is one of the things required to transform the agricultural sector.
Further in his address the Professor said, Africa and in particular Nigeria should make use of advantages mobile platform provide to harness innovation in order to achieve agricultural potential through efficiency of resources. He said, the use of satellite, smartphone applications and block chain technology can prove to be a game changer in boosting agriculture production in the country.
While rounding up his address Professor Faborode said, a lot still need to be done in attracting youth to the farming business in Nigeria among which is to make the farming youths friendly.
