Private and Government Polytechnics in Ondo State, Nigeria

As at the time of putting up this page, there were four (4) polytechnics in Ondo State and the ownership of the polytechnics is 50/50 between the government and the private sector.

While private organisations could lay claim to the ownership of two of the polytechnics in the "Sunshine State," government (state government owned one, federal government of Nigeria owned the other one) owned the other two.

Ondo witness the establishment of it first polytechnic in 1979 and it took them twenty-two years (2001) to have another one after Ekiti State was carved out of the old Ondo State. After 2001 two other polytechnics have been established making it four.

The two private polytechnics in Ondo State are located in Akure the state capital. The Federal Government of Nigeria funded one is in Ile- Oluji while the fourth polytechnic which is owned by the state government is in Owo and it is the oldest in the state.
