Private and Government Polytechnics, Kwara State, Nigeria

Kwara State is one of the few states in the Northern part of Nigeria that sees private organisations participating actively in it educational sector. The State has private universities, private colleges of education and private polytechnic.

Polytechnic school in Kwara State started with the establishment of Kwara State Polytechnic back in 1973. The decision to create the school was in 1971 during the time of the first administrative governor of the State, David Femi Bamigboye, a military man. Two years after the school came into existence.

Some years after, the state known as Kwara is able to grow the number of polytechnics in it territory to five, making it possible for large number of it's indigenes to seek and get admission into any of them.

The polytechnics in Kwara State are run by Federal Government of Nigeria, the State Governments and the private organisations. The State owned one, Federal Government owned one while private owned the remain three.

Three of the existing polytechnics are located in Offa, one of the most populated towns in Kwara State, one is located in Ilorin the State capital and the other in Igbo-Owu.
