The application which is already on the Google Play Store for Android phone users is designed to make the University community feel safe all the time. LASU authority enjoined all the students and staffs of the institution to download the application on Google Play Store.
LASU MONITOR is designed by the school computer science department. It comes equipped with the features such as:
- Emergency Contact
- Friends Walk
- News
- Security Tips
- Report Incidence and
- Support Features
EMERGENCY CONTACT feature have sub-features like: security helpdesk 1, security helpdesk 2 and security helpdesk 3 of which when a user press any of it, he will automatically be connected to some numbers which he can call.
Another sub-feature on EMERGENCY CONTACT is Emergency SMS which when press, automatically connect a user to a number via SMS feature of his/her phone.
A usee don't need to know anybody's number to use the emergency contact or SMS. Pressing any of the buttons will connect a user to appropriate contact numbers.
Another important feature of the application is FRIENDS WALK which in itself has two buttons/sub-features: Start Friend Walk and Track Friend Walk. With this features you can track the movement of one of your user friends.
By pressing Start Friend Walk, all the social media apps on the user phone will be shown. Click on any will connect the user with a friend on that social media and a code is automatically generated which can be send to him. This code when send to him, your friend at the other side of WhatsApp for example will have to copy it, paste it on the other sub-feature: Track Friend Walk for him to monitor the user movement.
With the NEWS feature, user get updated news from within the university community.
REPORT INCIDENCE allow user to report a sexual misconducts and crimes which are not emergency. A user must be student because the feature will ask for his matric number and surname.
