Covenant University, the winner of Nigeria held Enactus Competition has landed in Silicon Valley, United States of America (USA) to represent Nigeria at the Enactus World Cup Championship which will starts 16th September 2019.
Covenant University is participating in the Enactus World Cup Championship for the first time, though they had been participating in the national competition in the last four years. It should be recalled as reported on this blog that Enactus Covenant was made National Champion on July 12 when they defeated Enactus Abu (representative of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria). Becoming a national champion afford them the opportunity to represent Nigeria at this year Enactus World Cup Championship.
At the national level they were called Enactus Covenant but now, at International level they are refers to as Enactus Nigeria. Their faculty advisor at the competition is Michael Fagbohun.
When interview, the team said their proudest moment was when they were able to succeed in their project implementation and eventually becomes national champion.
Enactus World Cup Championship is big and highly competitive. Enactus Nigeria will have to slog it out with Enactus National Champions from more than forty countries of the world to become world champion.
Already, Enactus National Champion from thirty-one countries are in US for the Championship. Some of the other representative of African Countries at the competition are Nkrumah University of Science and Technology representing Ghana; Durban University of Technology representing South Africa; Cairo University representing Egypt; Jaramogi Oginga University of Science and Technology representing Kenya; University of Ziguinchor representing Senegal; Southern Africa Nazarene University representing Swaziland and Bindura University of Science and Technology representing Zimbabwe.
Enactus India, the 2017 Enactus World Champion is already in San Jose while Enactus Canada the winner of the 2018 Enactus World Cup Championship is also represented.
This year 2019 Enactus (Enterpreneural Action US) World Cup Championship is scheduled to hold at San Jose McEnery Convention Centre. The official preminary round of the competition is scheduled to kick off on the 16th of September 2019.
Enactus Nigeria, a 74-man team will highlight the pet city.
Some other schools that had represented Nigeria at the competition were Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria and Kaduna Polytechnic.
