The students of University of Ghana had been advised to be security conscious at all time whenever on the campus.
This warning was given on the heels of an incident that happened recently when armed robbery attacked was carried out by some unscrupulous persons on the university campus as well as some residential areas.
Speaking on behalf of the management of the institution, Director of Public Affairs said, "Managements attention have been drawn to recent armed robbery attacks by certain unscrupulous persons, including motorcycle riders on the University’s main campus as well as in the residential areas.”
She therefore said, the management of the university warns all students to the wary of unknown people whoon the campus that approach them for fund or any other things, explaining that could be one of their many strategies to prey on unsuspecting students.
The management of the University of Ghana assure all the students and staffs of the institution that adequate security measures have been put in place to make sure their lives and properties are well protected.
The students were further enjoined to be wary of suspicious taxi drivers, pick pocket, con men and unknown persons around them.
They were also warned not to be walking or jogging around alone especially where people are not around or in poorly lighted area in the night.
The statement said that the students should carry their ID card always and make sure that their rooms were under lock and key when nobody is in.
They were not then encourage not to hesitate to report any suspicious character they see loitering around any of the halls to the school Porters or security saying this is necessary for the safety of the university environment.
