Professor Mustapha Akanbi Appointed The Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University

A Professor of Law at the University of Ilorin, Faculty of Law has recently been appointed the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, KWASU and he is no other person than Professor Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi (SAN), a son of the Late President of the Nigeria Court of Appeal and the Pioneer Head of ICPC, Justice Muhammad Mustapha Akanbi.

The appointment of Professor Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi was announced by the Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Hajia Sa'adatu Moddibo who said the State Governor Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman has accepted and approved the appointment which was according to the recommendation of the KWASU Governing Council.

Professor Mustapha Akanbi is succeeding Professor Abdulazeez Na'Allah who was removed from the exalted post by the state government in 2019 in an unfashionable way when he was told to step down though his tenure in office was not yet completed at the time.  Untill now, Professor Kenneth Adeyemo has been the VIce Chancellor but in an acting capacity.

Until his recent appointment Professor Mustapha Akanbi was a lecturer in the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN). He was in this post for 22 years.

Akanbi educational career saw him earning his Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Law from the famous Kings College, London. While he earned his Masters and Bachelor Degree Certificate from University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
respectively.

He is a member Chartered Institute of Arbitrator, United Kingdom.
