Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) started teaching Mechanical Engineering in September 2010, just some months after the school was established.
The programme was introduced to train and graduate highly skill mechanical engineers capable of facing the challenges and solving problems in engineering and technology.
To achieve this the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Afe Babalola University parade qualify and highly experienced lectures to impart knowledge into it's students. The Departmeont also parade well equipped research laboratories and workshops which are use practical training.
Entry Requirements
Admission is granted students to study Mechanical Engineering at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) through two ways:
- JAMB University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and
- Direct Entry
JAMB/UTME Candidates
Applicants as JAMB/UTME Candidates must possess five credit passes in Ordinary Level (O/L) examination in the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics
- Chemistry and one other science subjects which might be
- Biology
- Agricultural Science
- Technical Drawing
- Further Mathematics
- Geography
ABUAD
requires the five credit passes to be at just one sit. But if an
applicant is presenting more than five credit passes at two sittings, it
could be accepted if the subjects combination is right.
JAMB University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
Applicants must sit for, pass and make the cut off mark for the JAMB/UTME.
JAMB/UTME Subjects Combination are:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics and
- Chemistry
Afe Babalola Post UTME
After
having passed and.make JAMB/UTME cut off mark, applicants must also
participate in the Afe Babalola University coordinated Post UTME and
make the required scores.
Afe Babalola University Pre-Degree Programme
ABUAD
Pre-Degree programme is accepted to study Mechanical Engineering provided
the student make the required scores. Students who were unable to secure
admission through JAMB/UTME may opt do this.
Applicants
given admission through JAMB/UTME or Pre-Degree programme to study Mechanical Engineering at ABUAD are admitted to 100 level.
Direct Entry Candidates
Application
through Direct Entry, eligible applicants admission to 200 level of the Mechanical Engineering at Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti. The
application could be process with these following qualifications.
- GCE Advance Level (A/L) : good passes in three subjects: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry
- National Diploma (ND): Credit in relevant Engineering programme
- NABTEB's National Technical Certificate with good grades is accepted.
- Higher National Diploma (HND: holders of this HND in relevant engineering programmes will be considered for admission to 300 level.
Mechanical Engineering at ABUAD is a minimum of five (5) years programme to those who were
granted admission through UTME leading to the award of Bachelor of
Engineering (Honour) in Mechanical Engineering. The programme is NUC approved
and COREN accredited.
