The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology at Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro runs the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND), Full Time and Part Time.
Below are listed the minimum entry requirements for the Full Time of both the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Electrical Engineering plus the O'level and JAMB's subjects combination.
ND Electrical Engineering Entry Requirements, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro
Ordinary Level (O'level) Subjects Combination
Credit pass in five subjects which must include:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry and one science related subject which can be
- Technical Drawing
- Geography
- Agricultural Science
- Biology or one relevant trade subjects which can be
- Metal Work
- Data Processing
- Welding and Fabrication
- Electrical Installation
- Radio/Television and Electronics Work
- Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity
- Air-conditioning and Refrigeration
- Auto Electrical Work
The five subjects which must not be at more than at two sittings can be from one or two of the:
- General Certificate of Education (GCE)
- West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Education (SSCE)
- National Technical Certificate (NTC)
Students must make the JAMB cut of mark for the Department of Electrical Engineering Technology as would be announced

- English Language
HND Electrical Engineering Entry Requirements, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro
- O'level results as National Diploma as stated above
- National Diploma result. Minimum of LOWER CREDIT
- Evidence of one (1) year post-ND industrial work experience.
- Pass in ND results may be accepted but must come with a minimum of two (2) years post-ND industrial work experience.
- The candidate should also request his or her institution to forward his or her official academic transcript under confidential cover to the Registrar, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
Higher National Diploma (HND) Electrical and Electronics Engineering options are: Power and Machine, Electronic and Telecommunication, Control and Communication.
