The Department of Polymer and Textile Engineering, School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) is concerned with research, teaching and graduating students who are able to contribute immensely to the development of the engineering discipline in Nigeria
FUTO is one of the two known universities to study Polymer and Textile Engineering in Nigeria.
Listed below are the minimum entry requirements for the JAMB/UTME and Direct Entry candidates to study for Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Polymer and Textile Engineering. This include the O'level subjects combination and JAMB subjects combination.
JAMB/UTME Candidates
Five O'level credit passes in relevant subjects which are:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics
- Chemistry and one of
- Technical Drawing
- Further Mathematics
- Biology
- Agricultural Science
- Geography
The five subjects which must not be more than at two sittings can be from one or two of the following examinations qualification
- West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
- NABTEB
Applicants must sit for and make the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and FUTO coordinated post UTME screening cut off mark for the Department of Polymer and Textile Engineering.
JAMB Subjects Combination
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics and
- Chemistry
Direct Entry Candidates
FUTO School of Engineering and Engineering Technology accept the following qualifications for Direct Entry to 200 level or 300 level of Polymer and Textile Engineering.
- National Diploma (ND): Upper Credit in relevant engineering programmes
- Higher National Diploma (HND): Upper Credit
- Joint Universities Preliminarily Examination Board (JUPEB)
FUTO also conduct pre-Degree programme which qualify students to 100 level.
All Direct Entry applicants must satisfy O'level results requirement at stated above.
